LESSON 5, THE FUTURE TENSE

The Future Tense :-
The future can be expressed in several ways in English. Here are the different possibilities :-
Future Simple: will + base form of the verb
Be Going To: am, is, are + going to + base form of the verb
Future Progressive: will be + verbing
Present Simple and Present Progressive with Future Meaning

There are several time expressions that are used in all of the different forms of the future tense. They are generally used at the end of the sentence or question. The most common are: tomorrow, next week (Sunday/month/year), in two days (weeks, months years), the day after tomorrow. The future tense is categorized further depending on whether the action will be in progress or is completed in the future. The four future tenses are:

Simple Future Tense

I will go.

I will achieve my objective in life.

The simple future tense is used to talk about an activity that will start in the future. It also indicates volition of a person to do something.

Future Continuous Tense

I will be going.

He will be examining the proposal during the next week.

The future continuous tense is used to describe an activity is that will be continuing in the future.

Past Perfect Tense

I will have gone.

By July 2015 I will have finished my studies.

The future perfect tense is used to describe an action that is presently not started but will be completed at a particular time in the future.

past perfect progressive

I will have been going.

We will have been completing a decade in the service of the company in August 2015.

The future perfect continuous tense is used to showcase a future action at a particular point in time that is continuing.
